Welcome to my blog! I created ‘The Ravel Out’ to capture my makes while I unravel my sewing ideas, one stitch at a time.

Ravel (out)

verb

  1. unravel; untangle.

  2. undo (twisted, knitted, or woven threads).

All the Drama - The Adrienne Blouse

Happy New Year! I decided to start the year off with sleeve drama! My first project is a simple yet elegant knit top which elevates basic tops to a new level.

I used the Adrienne Blouse pattern by Friday Pattern Company. I had zero issues with this pattern and I think it is perfect for all levels of sewers. For my first version, I did not make any modifications or hack the pattern in any way.

A few things I like about it are:

  • Quick and easy sew - This makes it an awesome pick-me-up especially after a more challenging project. It also makes it a great closet filler for when you need more basics.
  • 12 paged PDF - Yes, this PDF pattern is only 12 pages!
  • For knits - I can't believe I used to fear sewing with knits. This pattern requires knit fabrics which are usually more forgiving than wovens in terms of fit.
  • Versatility -  Depending on the weight of knit used, you get a slightly different look and structure. The top can also be worn off the shoulder or as shown I have worn it in my photos and can be styled in endless ways.
